{"id":1954,"date":"2014-06-11T15:27:23","date_gmt":"2014-06-11T13:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/birgit-kolar.com\/maestro-rafael-fruehbeck-de-burgos\/"},"modified":"2014-06-11T15:27:23","modified_gmt":"2014-06-11T13:27:23","slug":"maestro-rafael-fruehbeck-de-burgos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/birgit-kolar.com\/en\/maestro-rafael-fruehbeck-de-burgos\/","title":{"rendered":"Maestro Rafael Fr\u00fchbeck de Burgos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A sad piece of news causes me to leave this entry in my blog today&#8230; Maestro Fruhbeck de Burgos passed on this morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Maestro Fruhbeck de Burgos was my first \u201eboss\u201c at the Wiener Symphoniker from 1994 to 1996.\u00a0 He was a very fair person, who knowingly kept a respectful distance to each of his musicians. He made no distinctions, no exceptions, he treated everyone equally!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">I\u00b4d like to share a little anecdote of a situation that turned out to be a key moment in my professional development&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">It was my first concert as first concertmaster, with Raphael Fr\u00fchbeck de Burgos on the podium of the Wiener Symphoniker at the Wiener Konzerthaus. On the program, among other things, The Three Cornered Hat by de Falla.\u00a0 There was a small discrepancy between the first violins, and I tried my best to follow the conductor in order to smooth out this minimal irregularty&#8230;\u00a0 With no success. After the concert \u2013 as etiquette dictates\u00a0 &#8211; I went to the Maestro\u00b4s room to thank him and to apologise for the little incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">In his typical short and concise manner he said, \u201eMiss Kolar I\u00b4ll tell you something \u2013 never play with the conductor, but always with the section!\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">My dear readers, you have no idea what a long road the dear, venerated Maestro spared me with that piece of advice! No arduous learning from critical situations \u2013 simply one distinct pointer, the depth and clarity of which stay with me until this day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Many years later we met again at more or less regular intervals: in Bergen, in Seville, and my last encounter with him was with \u201ehis\u201c Carmina Burana with the Orquestra Nacional de Espana in Madrid before Christmas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-723 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/birgit-kolar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/IMG_6390-1024x576.png\" alt=\"IMG_6390\" width=\"805\" height=\"452\" \/>Following the concert there was a ceremony to honour him on the occasion of his eightieth birthday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Thank you, Maestro Fr\u00fchbeck de Burgos!
